Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- A passing-on technique session was held at the Samjigang Farm in Jaeryong County, South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK on August 7 and 8 to widely generalize the method of fish farming in paddy fields.
Present there were Ri Chol Man, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the Agricultural Commission, officials concerned and technicians in Pyongyang and regions.
Introduced at the session was the experience gained in the catfish farming in paddy fields at the supply base of a unit of the Korean People's Army which created a practical model in introducing organic farming through fish farming.
The session dealt with scientific and technological problems arising in the selection of the right paddy fields for catfish farming in paddy fields, the infrastructure, catfish breeding and pedigree production.
The explanation that the right paddy fields were selected after taking into account the source and quality of water, irrigation and drainage conditions and soil characteristics, the depth and width of fish ways were set in a scientific way and the utility rate of land was increased after planting earlier crops attracted the participants' attention.
Mentioned there were the issues arising in selecting the density of fish per hectare and one cubic meter of water, selecting a reasonable variety of rice, setting the number of plants per phyong, putting harvest on a mechanized basis and selecting the location of drainage in accordance with scientific principles.
Meanwhile, the participants went round the paddy-field catfish breeding fields and the puffed feed production equipment and Hermetia illucens habitat at the Samjigang Farm of Jaeryong County. -0-
