Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- The 23rd May 21 Architectural Festival opened with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex in the DPRK on May 12 under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the Architects Union of Korea.

Presented to the festival on the theme of "Comprehensive development of socialism to a higher stage and Juche-oriented architecture" were more than 580 multi-dimensional layouts, dozens of construction equipment and tools and over 90 achievements in introducing the architectural information modeling technology, all of which were highly appreciated at provincial (municipal) architectural festivals.

During the festival there will be a drawing contest, video show, presentation of experience gained in creation and dissemination and exchange of data on latest architectural science and technology.

Present at the opening ceremony were Vice-Premier of the Cabinet Pak Hun, officials concerned, scientists, technicians, designers, teachers and researchers in the field of construction and education.

Sim Yong Hak, chairman of the Central Committee of the Architects Union of Korea, made an opening address.

At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the venue of the festival. -0-
