Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- Officials and workers in the salt industry sector fulfilled its national economic plan for the first quarter of this year.

The Kwangryangman Salt Works carried out its quarterly plan at more than 157 percent by dint of science and technology.

Officials and employees of the Namyang Salt Works registered remarkable results by concentrating their efforts on raising the proportion of mechanization. They secured spare parts and strengthened the responsibility and role of operators and water caretakers. As a result, the operation rate of equipment used for the realignment of salt fields and transport and the efficiency of water circulation system were improved to produce hundreds of tons of more salt than planned.

Kwisong, Unha and Kumsong salt works took technical measures to raise the salinity of seawater and conducted socialist emulations while taking responsible care of evaporating and crystallization ponds and storage facilities, thus revitalizing production.

The Onchon Tile Factory and the Salt-making Machine Repair Plant made successive innovations while improving the performance of kilns and machine tools and giving precedence to the supply of raw and other materials. -0-
