Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex Marks Its Founding Anniversary

Pyongyang, April 21 (KCNA) -- The workers of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex in the DPRK are celebrating the 80th founding anniversary of their complex.

President Kim Il Sung visited the complex tens of times, since he gave field guidance at the then Chongjin Iron Works on April 22, 1946, and showed deep loving care and trust in it so that it could play a leading role in the development of the country's metal industry.

Chairman Kim Jong Il energetically led the work to put the metal industry on a Juche and modern basis. He visited the complex even in the last moments of his revolutionary life to guide it to establish the Juche-based iron production system in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un unfolded a gigantic plan for accomplishing the historic cause of establishing the Juche-based iron production system and indicated tasks and ways for it.

True to the plan and leadership of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the workers of the complex and scientists and technicians finished a huge project in more than 500 days.

The complex built a Korean-style energy-saving oxygen heat blast furnace and oxygen separators with the capacity of 15 000 cubic meters per hour by arousing the working masses to the drive for establishing a new Juche-based iron production process on the basis of the already-made successes.

Its workers have increased production in the vanguard of struggle to pioneer an era of comprehensive development of socialism while further updating the Juche-based iron production system and its operation method in a technical way and expanding its production capacity.

The complex is now putting spurs to the attainment of the steel-production goal set forth by the Party by further enhancing the spirit of fresh innovation, bold creation and steady advance. -0-
