Passing-on Technique Meeting Held at Yakjon Farm

Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- A passing-on technique meeting for rice transplanting and cultivating and tending dry-field crops took place at the Yakjon Farm in Sukchon County, South Phyongan Province of the DPRK, on Sunday.

Present there were Ri Chol Man, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the Agricultural Commission, and officials of the Agricultural Commission and provincial rural economy committees.

Prior to the meeting, the participants looked round the catfish breeding facility built at the Yakjon Farm.

The meeting first gave a comprehensive explanation of the issues arising in carrying on rice-transplanting and cultivation of dry-field crops as required by science and technology.

There was a demonstration dealing with the issues of raising nutritive cold-bed seedlings in greenhouses and the scientific and technological issues of introducing organic farming methods such as catfish and mud snail breeding.

Technical problems arising in harrowing of dry fields, rice transplanting by machines according to nutritive cold-bed rice seedlings, cold-bed rice seedlings and big seedlings, and operation of nutritive rice transplanting machines were dealt with.

Scientific and technological problems related to the cultivation of rice seedlings in outdoor beds and herbicide treatment in the fields of nutritive cold-bed seedlings were dealt with and measures were taken to manure and manage wheat, barley and maize fields.

There was a demonstration on the method of estimating the yield by drones in this year's wheat and barley farming and on harvesting, threshing and drying in a responsible manner to reduce grain loss. -0-
