Many Hectares of Forests for Raw Materials Created

Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- Thousands of hectares of forests for raw materials have been created in different parts of the DPRK this year, according to Rodong Sinmun.

Phyongwon County created more than 100 hectares of oil-bearing forest and Sukchon County planted many trees of economic value. As a result, South Phyongan Province created hundreds of hectares of forests for raw materials in this spring.

Kangwon Province created more than 2 500 hectares of Evodia daniellii Benn forests and South Hwanghae Province planted Acer truncatum, bamboo willow and other trees and made great efforts to ensure the rate of rooting on a high level.

South Hamgyong Province created more than 1 100 hectares of forests and has directed efforts to cultivating trees while pushing ahead with the production of saplings for the creation of new forests.

Other regions, too, have made successes by pushing ahead with the work to create forests for raw materials conducive to realizing the Workers' Party of Korea's policy on regional development. -0-
