Schoolchildren in DPRK Celebrate KCU Birthday

Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- The Korean Children's Union recorded the 80th founding anniversary in the proud course of its development. On this occasion, the whole country is overflowing with joy and optimism of the KCU members.

All the schools across the country were full of happiness and joy of the schoolchildren who were giving art performances and playing sports and amusement games amid the congratulations of their teachers and parents.

All the KCU members placed flower baskets, bouquets and flowers at the statues of the great leader Generalissimo Kim Il Sung and the great leader Generalissimo Kim Jong Il in their residential areas and paid tribute to them.

The provincial, city and county youth league committees and KCU organizations at schools organized general meetings of KCU organizations, meetings of young activists in noble traits and meetings to hear stories about the pride of KCU members.

Art performances of schoolchildren and other cultural events took place across the country, adding pleasure to the holiday.

Officials of Party and government organs in all the provinces, cities and counties visited the KCU members to congratulate them on the founding anniversary.

Through various numbers, the performers showed well the bright and cheerful looks of the schoolchildren who are bringing their hopes and talents into full bloom by making them knowledgeable, virtuous and healthy under the care of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The venues for dancing parties, too, were overflowing with joy and optimism of schoolchildren significantly celebrating the KCU birthday.

Sports and amusement games, including a tug of war, running with their ankles tied and a basketball, took place at schools across the country. -0-
