Pyongyang, December 31 (KCNA) -- At the Central Zoo in the DPRK, the number of animals has increased by 1 100 of over 150 kinds. Among them the number of gift animals is more than 100 of over 40 species.
This gives greater pleasure to the visitors.
On January 1 an Asiatic black bear, a gift animal, had a cub.
The gift animal German pointer (dog) gave birth to a puppy in February and Shih tzu, a pet dog, dropped five pups in April, June and August.
The number of hamadryas baboon and brown bear has increased.
Meanwhile, rare animals of the Central Zoo are spreading throughout the country.
The Central Zoo distributed more than 150 animals of dozens of species to the Phyongsong Zoo, Kanggye Zoo and other regional zoos this year. Among them are dozens of 10-odd species, including Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo and Ring-tailed Lemur. -0-
