Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- North Hwanghae Province in the DPRK directs efforts to putting afforestation on a more scientific basis.

The province has established and applied an information support system capable of disseminating technical data necessary for planting and tending trees in a scientific and technological way in conformity with the characteristics of each region and species of tree and climatic conditions.

The provincial tree nursery has produced plastic containers for sapling cultivation with its own efforts, saving cost and increasing productivity.

It is further putting the sapling production on a scientific and intensive basis to widely spread trees of good species.

Yonsan, Pongsan and Sohung counties have planted red oak, pine-nut tree and other trees and tend them in a scientific way to ensure the survival rate.

The forest management stations in Yonthan, Singye and other counties, too, are conducting afforestation and forest conservation, producing bio-insecticide by themselves and taking measures to prevent damage by harmful insects. -0-
