39th National Festival of Science and Technology Continues

Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The 39th National Festival of Science and Technology is going on at the Sci-Tech Complex in the DPRK.

The State Academy of Sciences presented more than 130 proposals including technologies of Korean-style coal gasification and reduced iron and synthetic fuel production based on it and the scientification of vegetable production at the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm.

Such research achievements as a multi-purpose operation system at the Ice Rink and an intelligent integrated production system at the Samgwang Livestock Farm, established by teachers and researchers of Kim Chaek University of Technology, are drawing attention of visitors.

Also, popular among visitors are various educational aid systems, conducive to narrowing the gaps in education level between towns and countryside and to the teaching preparations, and a nano-material production process and a technology for production of nano-zinc oxide antibiosis agent.

The Electric Power Information Institute under the Ministry of Electric Power Industry established an integrated water management system in reservoirs of hydro-power stations to raise the scientific level of water management and expand the water capacity of reservoirs, and the South Hamgyong Provincial Power Transmission and Distribution Station put the management of substations on a modern basis.

Ryongdae and Chonsong youth coal mines established an energy-saving coal-muck-carrying system and a method of perpetuating pits and manufactured a suspended chair cableway for miners.

Presented to the festival are lamp equipment, 45-ton container crane, 5-ton harbor crane and automatic edge planer, developed by technical teams of the Maritime Science Institute under the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport, the Nampho Port, the Hungnam Port and the Ryongnam Dockyard. -0-
