Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- More than 200 million trees have been planted in more than 90 000 hectares of area this year, through a mass afforestation movement in different parts of the DPRK.
The Forest Guidance Bureau of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection and the relevant sector worked out a spring tree-planting plan and ensured that trees were planted with the main emphasis on creating forests practically conducive to the economic development of regions and the improvement of people's standard of living.
North Hamgyong Province planted trees with high economic value in an area of more than 10 000 hectares on the principle of planting right tree on right soil and selecting right time and right species.
Jagang Province set a goal of creating much more economic forests suited to regional characteristics and conducted a brisk socialist emulation among units to plant tens of millions of trees by actively introducing advanced methods.
Working people in North Hwanghae Province, too, planted many trees in consideration of the regional climate and soil conditions. -0-
