Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- On the east coast of the DPRK, there is Lagoon Sijung, famous as a medical tourist resort.

Lagoon Sijung is located in a place 52 km southeast of Wonsan, a modern port city.

It is well known for its spectacular scenery as it is surrounded by high and low peaks, which look like a folding screen, and has a white sandy beach near the calm sea.

The low mountains surrounding the lagoon are forested with green pine trees, and the white sandy beach in the north and east of the lagoon is covered with a carpet of fragrant wild roses in summer. In autumn, the pine forest on the lagoon and appetizing persimmons ripening at the surrounding dwellings present breathtaking scenery in harmony with the beautiful lagoon.

A thick layer of mud on the bed of the lagoon is used for medical treatment.

The mud is efficacious for treating nervous system disorders and digestive problems as it contains iron sulfide, calcium ion and magnesium ion.

Lagoon Sijung has been turned into a wonderful cultural resort and scenic spot, giving pleasure and joy to the people.
