Pyongyang, February 15 (KCNA) -- Chairman Kim Jong Il is the great master of musical art who laid an eternal foundation for development of the Juche-oriented musical art with his outstanding ideology, theory and leadership.

Regarding music as his first favorite, the Chairman authored such works as "On the Art of Music" to advance the original ideas and theories on building of musical art in the Juche era conducive to realizing independence of the popular masses.

And he personally created such celebrated masterpieces as "The Embrace of My Motherland", "Song of Best Wishes", "O Korea, I Will Add Glory to Thee", which have been handed down as precious eternal treasures and masterpieces of the country and people decades after decades.

One day, when he heard a piece of music re-represented by an art troupe, he grasped its essence in a moment and said that there was a fundamental difference between Korean and Western music in whether it was melody or rhythmic tune, adding that in any case, melody should be the main factor and rhythm subordinated to it.

Under his loving care, the Mansudae Art Troupe could successfully create and represent famous songs of the times and bring about changes in the creation of new and peculiar genres of instrumental music and styles of representing vocal music, demonstrating to the whole world the development of the Juche-oriented art.

Thanks to the thought and efforts of Kim Jong Il, the music of the Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble was created in Korean-style performance techniques, form and system and a heyday of the Juche-oriented electronic music was ushered in.
