Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- The land and environment protection sector of the DPRK direct efforts to preventing forest fire in spring.
Officials of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection and relevant units have established a well-regulated monitoring and notifying system to intensify the control and guidance over the prevention of forest fire as a whole.
They are concentrating efforts on the work to ensure prompt and accurate notification of an outbreak of forest fire at a high level while drawing up a plan to give duties to officials so that they can prevent forest fires in advance and rapidly respond to the emergency.
Provinces, cities and counties implant in the working people, residents and students the idea that the prevention of forest fires is a patriotic undertaking to protect forests.
They have conducted the political work to make the inhabitants observe the regulations and order of entering a mountain area and inform in time of any outbreak of forest fire so that many people can turn out this undertaking with the consciousness of civic duty.
They are striving to use IT means and make them effective in preventing forest fires.
Also, project is being conducted to repair and build forest firebreaks, etc. and check the condition of transmission lines extending over mountains and take measures for eliminating dangerous elements.
They have reinforced mobile and stationary observation posts, enhanced the responsibility and role of forest rangers and fire guards, and pushed ahead with the work to provide mobile communication equipment and signal apparatuses.
They are equipping themselves with fire extinguishing apparatuses and vehicles and taking measures to mobilize them promptly in an emergency. -0-
