Steel Production Goes up in DPRK

Pyongyang, April 8 (KCNA) -- Workers in the metallurgical industry of the DPRK are increasing the steel production by dint of science and technology.

The workers and technicians of the blast furnace shop No. 1 at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex have fulfilled their pig iron production plan by steadily innovating the operation mode of the oxygen heat blast furnace.

The oxygen separator branch factory and the hot-rolling workshop have increased the production of oxygen and rolled steel systematically by introducing advanced technology while consolidating the past successes made in readjustment and reinforcement.

The members of the April 15 Technological Innovation Shock Brigade at the Chollima Steel Complex are increasing production by developing new technologies.

The workers of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex are boosting the production by reducing the melting time and increasing the output of molten iron per charge.

The miners of the Musan Mining Complex are increasing the production of iron ore, determined to attain the goal of the first year of the new Five-Year Plan ahead of schedule.
