Pyongyang, March 13 (KCNA) -- A presentation and seminar on technology and experience in the paddy-field fish farming took place at the Academy of Agricultural Sciences on March 12 through video conferencing under the co-sponsorship the Agricultural Technology Association of Korea and the Korean Fishery Association of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.

Attending the presentation and seminar held on the theme of "Increasing the productivity of paddy rice and fish" were scientists, technicians and field officials from over 2 000 units, including the Rice Research Institute of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Bioengineering Branch of the State Academy of Sciences and the Samjigang Farm in Jaeryong County.

Submitted to the presentation were scores of papers dealing with the high-yielding cultivation of paddy rice through catfish farming in paddy fields and the establishment of a method for raising the efficiency of catfish farming in paddy fields.

Discussed at the seminar were the ways for increasing the productivity of tilapia and carp by biotechnical methods in paddy-field fish farming, selecting a variety of paddy rice suitable to the conditions of paddy-field fish farming and establishing the cultivation technology.

On the same day there was a technical lecture on green cultivation and fish farming methods. -0-
