Pyongyang, April 11 (KCNA) -- According to Minju Joson, the irrigation system established in the rural areas of the DPRK proves effective in this year's farming.
The rural areas in South Hwanghae Province have taken measures to irrigate the fields of wheat and barley vulnerable to drought to minimize the yield reduction. Jaeryong and Anak counties are paying attention to ensuring the operation of pumping equipment at full capacity in order to minimize the damage caused by the disastrous abnormal weather. The farms in Unchon, Jangyon and Kangryong counties strive to minimize the drought damage to wheat and barley through a mass movement.
The rural areas in North Hwanghae Province, too, are directing efforts to supplying irrigation water to the fields of wheat and barley. Hwangju County has introduced various irrigation methods, as required by different field conditions, to increase the efficiency of irrigation water.
Rinsan and Sohung counties are ensuring that water is fully supplied to all fields by putting the pumping equipment on a normal operation.
Kaesong Municipality and South Phyongan and South Hamgyong provinces are making redoubled efforts to reap a good harvest in wheat and barley farming this year. -0-
