Pyongyang, April 17 (KCNA) -- Agricultural guidance organs in South Phyongan Province of the DPRK are taking measures to introduce advanced farming methods, according to Rodong Sinmun.
The provincial rural economy committee has carried on the work to select varieties of crops and set their sowing periods in conformity with the climatic conditions of the plains, middle and mountainous areas and the characteristics of crops, and push ahead with their cultivation in a scientific and technological way.
Agricultural production units are fertilizing with phytosin and nutrient accelerants.
They are introducing into large areas the method of soil-covering cultivation by biodegradable paper to increase the per-hectare yield of field crops, while taking steps to conduct the immediate spring ploughing and seeding in a qualitative way at the right time and cope with the changing weather climate.
Rural economy committees in Phyongwon County and Anju City are conducting the work to ensure the growth term of earlier and after-crops and provide a scientific and technological guarantee for increasing grain production in low-yielding areas including salt-affected areas.
Rural economy committees in Hoechang County and Tokchon City are taking practical measures to properly distribute varieties and set the right time in conformity with the regional characteristics and conduct nutrient care of them in an effective way with less fertilizer.
Other city and county agricultural guidance organs, too, are conducting the work to introduce the advanced farming methods. -0-
