National Academic Degrees and Titles Conferred on Intellectuals in DPRK

Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- National academic degrees and titles were conferred on the intellectuals who made scientific research achievements conducive to developing the economy of the country and improving the people's standard of living.

Attending the awarding ceremony held on Thursday were Vice-Premier Jon Sung Guk and intellectuals.

A decision of the State Commission for Conferment of Academic Degrees and Titles of the DPRK was read out. Then the title of Candidate Academician was awarded to Kim Jin Myong, vice-president of Kim Il Sung University, its department heads Kang Jin U and O Song Chol, its Institute Director Kim Song Chol, its Section Chief Sin Kye Ryong, Kim Chol Ryong, dean of a faculty of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pak Song Jin, director of an institute of University of Sciences, and Kim In Suk, director of an institute of the Academy of Social Sciences.

Professorship was conferred on Jang Yong Man, director of an institute of Kim Il Sung University, its Vice Department Head Om Hyok Min, Pak Kyong Suk, a teacher of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Kim Hui Chol, director of an institute of Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering, Kim Jong Chol, rector of Pyongyang University of Architecture, and To Song Chol and Kim Kwang Chol, department heads of University of National Economy.

Doctorate went to 77 persons, including Kim Kwang Ryong, department head of the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Ryu Gyong, a teacher of the School, Kim Chol Jin and Ma Jun, section chiefs of Kim Il Sung University, Son Sung Mo, Jin Sim, Kim Won, Mun Jong Hui, Ri Ho Yong, Kang Mun Hyok and Sin Hye Gyong, teachers of the University, U Song Jin, director of an institute of the State Academy of Sciences, Ri Jae Ryol, a teacher of Chongjin University of Mining and Metallurgy, and Hwang Kum Hyok, a teacher of Chongjin O Jung Hup University of Education. -0-
