International Day of Older Persons Marked in DPRK

Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- Colorful sports and cultural activities are going on in the DPRK to mark International Day of Older Persons (October 1).

The aged people across the country spend a pleasant and happy time, recollecting their youthful days.

In the DPRK the aged people are leading a happy life thanks to the Workers' Party of Korea's policy on the care of the aged.

As the people-oriented policies of the state which takes care of the life and health of the aged are being enforced invariably, the right and interests of the revolutionary forerunners including war veterans and persons of distinguished services as the aged are ensured and they are leading a worthwhile and happy life in good health.

As the living environment of the aged is improving day by day and the number of macrobians increases, advantageous policies are enforced such as protecting them, introducing their experience and giving more social benefits to the aged of over 90.

This year alone, the number of centenarians enjoying a happy life in good health is increasing day by day, adding pleasure to the large socialist family.

Sanatoriums for war veterans and old people's homes have been built across the country, so that they are respected as revolutionary forerunners and elders under the care of the society.

The aged people of the DPRK are displaying patriotism, while doing good things by themselves in order to repay the benefits of the Party and the state. -0-
