Construction of Solar Power Plants Accelerated in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- Solar power plants are being built in different parts of the DPRK.

Ryanggang Province established a solar power plant with the capacity of thousands of kilowatts in the area of Phabal-ri of Kim Hyong Gwon County.

Haeju City of South Hwanghae Province inaugurated a solar power plant with the capacity of 10 000 kilowatts.

The capital city of Pyongyang built solar power plants in three districts last year, and the work to increase the production of electricity by making effective use of solar energy is brisk in all districts and counties this year, too.

South Hamgyong Province built Soho and Tonghung solar power plants and a grid parallel solar power plant on the bank of the River Songchon.

South Phyongan Province is establishing a solar power generation system with the capacity of thousands of kilowatts on the basis of experience, technology and economic effectiveness gained in the operation of the solar power plant in the River Phyongsong.

North Hwanghae and North Hamgyong provinces and other regions of the country are increasing the solar power generation capacity. -0-
