Pyongyang, April 28 (KCNA) -- According to Rodong Sinmun, scientific research units in the DPRK have made achievements conducive to the economic development and the improvement of people's living.

Scientists of the Ferrous Metal Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences developed a new material production technology for increasing the serviceable life of coal wagon wheels and pumps.

Those of the Sunchon Mining Engineering Institute of the Academy of Coal Mining Science proved the scientific accuracy and efficiency of a new blasting method combined with drilling speed accelerator and efficient cross-detonating method and introduced it in an expanded way to contribute to increasing the coal production. They also raised the efficiency of the drainage system of coal mine by manufacturing and introducing a substantial packing.

Those of the May 28 Metal Research Institute of the Ministry of Metal Industry invented a technology to produce firebricks with a longer serviceable life.

Scientists of the Food and Consumer Goods Research Institute under the Ministry of Regional Industry mapped out technical guide on the standard of soy sauce with low salt content and developed a technical plan for improving the quality of beverage products. -0-
