Work to Cope with Disastrous Abnormal Weather Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- The work for coping with the disastrous abnormal weather has been accelerated in the DPRK, true to the intention of the Workers' Party of Korea to protect the state and social property and the people's lives and properties from natural disasters.

The Ministry of Disaster Management makes a strong demand on preparing for the emergency situation promptly, including the detailed completion of the regional emergency work system and action plans.

Taking rational measures for controlling flood, it has pushed ahead with the project to set proper norms for storing relief means and materials according to the types of disaster and perfect them in a farsighted way as required by the regulations.

In particular, it has directed efforts to establishing a system of rapidly transmitting warning against such disasters as flood, typhoon, volcano and earthquake to all areas through a dual and triple warning system based on fixed and mobile communication and broadcasting after making disastrous abnormal weather a fait accompli.

The State Hydro-meteorological Administration intensifies the research work to ensure the scientific accuracy of forecast by normalizing the automatic observation at meteorological and marine observatories across the country and establish an integrated information system for correctly analyzing the weather, hydrology and maritime state.

It is also stepping up the work to introduce modern equipment capable of automatically observing weather phenomena at major meteorological observation units. -0-
