Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- Tree planting was conducted across the country on the occasion of the Tree-planting Day.

Officials of the State Planning Commission, the State Inspection Commission, the Agricultural Commission, the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the Ministry of Light Industry, the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport, the Ministry of IT Industry, the Ministry of Fisheries, the Ministry of Commerce and the Korean Revolution Museum planted trees in different places of Pyongyang including the vicinities of the Party Founding Museum, the Monument to Party Founding and the Central Botanical Garden.

Working people of districts and counties in Pyongyang planted trees of good species in streets, villages, parks and surrounding mountains, reflecting their patriotic will to increase the natural resources of the country and spruce up its appearance.

Working people and youth and students in South Phyongan, South Hwanghae, South Hamgyong and other regions devoted their sincerity to tree planting around the revolutionary sites, revolutionary battle sites and the Cemetery of Fallen Fighters of the Korean People's Army with their determination to glorify forever the immortal revolutionary exploits of the peerlessly great men associated with their residential areas.

Workers and members of the women's union in North Phyongan Province and Nampho Municipality lavished their patriotism on creating economic forests while planting trees in a scientific way.

Residents in North Hwanghae, North Hamgyong and Jagang provinces paid big efforts to raising the survival rate, bearing deep in mind the importance of covering the whole country with trees and flowers in turning their worksites and villages into more civilized ones. They added beauty to their regions and units by planting trees of different species.

After securing enough tree saplings of different species and uses by substantially pushing ahead with the strengthening of the material and technical foundations of tree nurseries and by cultivating them in a responsible way, Kangwon Province and Kaesong Municipality concentrated manpower and means on planting trees. -0-
