National Heritage Conservation in Kaesong Municipality

Pyongyang, April 28 (KCNA) -- Kaesong Municipality of the DPRK is conducting a mass movement to preserve the national heritage.

The Municipal Management Office for the Protection of National Heritage has frequently learned about condition of the historical relics, including the Nam Gate of Kaesong, Kwandok Pavilion, Sonjuk Bridge and Phyochung Monuments, to restore the damaged parts to their original state and planted and cultivated flower shrubs of good species to improve the surrounding environment.

Employees of heritage management offices for the Mausoleum of King Wang Kon and the Manwoldae have repaired some of the Kaesong Walls in conformity with the principle of historicism while taking care of the green areas and roads in a premeditated manner.

The Koryo Museum displayed relics in a vivid and three-dimensional way, carrying out a general overhaul of the Taesong Hall.

The working people of the scenic spot management office for Pakyon Falls laid colored paving blocks in the park area and painted state signposts and explanatory tablets, repairing the roads for visitors.

The Kaesong Municipal Agency for National Heritage Conservation is finding and registering the intangible cultural heritage reflecting the customs of the Korean people while widely disseminating the traditional culture. -0-
