Scientific Cultivation of Wheat and Barley Promoted

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- Farms in South Phyongan Province, Nampho Municipality, North Hwanghae Province and other parts of the DPRK are tending the earlier crops in the second half of their growth in a sci-tech way.

They have sprayed leaves of the crops with phytosin, multi-element mineral fertilizer and other plant nutrients and growth activators to improve the state of their growth.

At the same time, they have made good use of groundwater-tapping facilities to irrigate the farm fields in a responsible manner in order to ensure proper soil humidity.

Now that rice transplanting has begun, they are digging ditches around the fields and making deep furrows between the levees to prevent water from flowing into the wheat fields.

The farms give farmers the knowledge of kinds of harmful insects and their growth and movements and teach how to exterminate them, while taking strict measures to observe and forecast them and using various germicides and insecticides. -0-
