National Contest of Taekwon-Do Schools and Paduk and Korean Chess Class Games Held

Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) -- A national contest of Taekwon-Do schools and paduk and Korean chess class games respectively took place in Chongjin and Sariwon cities of the DPRK from May 11 to 27.

The contest and the games brought together more than 600 players selected from Taekwon-Do schools under the Ryongaksan Taekwon-Do Team and provincial Taekwon-Do teams and the Paduk players teams at provincial Paduk centres. They competed with each other in Taekwon-Do patterns, sparing matches, Paduk and Korean chess events, divided into various categories according to their ages.

Kangwon Province came first in total standings in the national contest of Taekwon-Do schools.

Players from the teams of South Hamgyong, Kangwon and South Phyongan provincial and Pyongyang municipal Paduk centres proved successful in the Paduk and Korean chess class games.

Diplomas were awarded to the teams which took top places and to the players who displayed high skills. -0-
