Material and Technical Foundations for Power Production Growth Strengthened

Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) -- Officials and workers in the power industrial sector of the DPRK are consolidating the material and technical foundations for stable and sustainable growth of the production of electricity in the drive to implement the decisions of the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The Ministry of Electric Power Industry is meticulously conducting the operation to actively and rationally adjust the power production by hydro-power and thermal power and to maintain, repair and reinforce the power equipment, structures and power transmission and supply facilities in a qualitative way.

Officials and workers of the power stations across the country have successfully fulfilled their quotas by the day and every ten days and thus fully satisfied the demand for electricity needed for economic construction and improvement of the people's living standard.

Suphung, Hochongang and Jangjingang power stations have increased the production while rationally distributing loads to suit the characteristics of generators and strictly observing technical rules and standard regulations in the management and operation of equipment.

The Pukchang Thermal Power Complex and the East Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant have also ensured the thermal insulation and seal of boilers and turbo-generators and reduced heat loss to the maximum in keeping with the winter conditions, and thus increased the generating efficiency.

The main efforts are directed to ensuring the maintenance and reinforcement of substations and transmission and distribution lines and protecting them from disastrous meteorological phenomena. -0-
