Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- True to the intention of the Workers' Party of Korea, Nampho Municipality of the DPRK is conducting a mass campaign to turn the mountains in the region into useful mountains conducive to the economic development and improvement of the people's standard of living.

This year alone, the municipality conducted the reformation of more than 180 hectares of forests and planted hundreds of thousands of trees.

The municipal tree nursery and the parents nurseries in districts and counties, including Chollima District and Onchon County, put the sapling production on a more scientific and intensive basis, so the saplings such as young pine-nut trees grow well.

Now that the saplings have been secured, the municipality organized a demonstration to introduce the newly-developed growth promoter and intensified policy-oriented and technical guidance in order to plant trees on the principle of planting a right tree on right soil.

Officials of the organs at a municipal level dedicated themselves to planting trees in line with the scientific and technical requirements, with the main emphasis on raising the rate of rooting of saplings.

Chollima Steel Complex and Nampho Port planted trees in a proper way.

Kangso and Hanggu districts created large area of Evodia daniellii Benn forests and planted oil-bearing chestnut trees and black walnut trees in a responsible manner.

Meanwhile, the municipality is taking measures to protect forests, while conducting mass movements such as a movement for winning the titles of Socialist Patriotic Forest and Model County in Afforestation. -0-
