Spring Tree Planting in DPRK

Pyongyang, April 10 (KCNA) -- Spring tree planting is being conducted on a mass-based movement in the DPRK.

Trees of high economic value and profitability including pine-nut and Sangwon poplar trees have been planted in South Hwanghae, North Hwanghae and Kangwon provinces to increase the areas of forests for oil, wild fruit and raw materials for paper.

Ryokpho and Sadong districts of Pyongyang Municipality introduced advanced tree-planting methods to raise the rate of rooting while prioritizing the securing and transporting of trees.

Hoeryong and Kim Chaek cities in North Hamgyong Province planted trees of good species in the newly-built rural villages to improve their appearance and environment.

Working people in South Hamgyong Province planted trees in over 8 000 hectares.

Those in Pukchang and Hoechang counties of South Phyongan Province planted trees including Larix lepolepis and pine-nut trees in their native places.

Kangso and Taean districts of Nampho Municipality planted Evodia daniellii Benn and chestnut trees in many areas, taking into consideration their regional climate and soil conditions. -0-
