Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The fighting spirit and traits of the preceding generations who worked miracles and innovations, overcoming the grim difficulties facing the revolution, are the moral treasure to be followed by all the people and glorified generation after generation.
The DPRK people have recorded the proud history of development of the Republic, working world-startling miracles one after another from the outset of nation building up to now, the era of building a great power, including the periods of postwar reconstruction, the great Chollima upswing.
In the latter half of the 1950s, the workers of the then Kangson Steel Plant produced 120 000 tons of steel billets with a blooming mill with a capacity of 60 000 tons, and the smelters of the then Kim Chaek Iron Works produced 270 000 tons of pig iron with a blast furnace with a capacity of 190 000 tons.
In the same period, the workers of the then Ryongsong Machine Factory manufactured eight-meter turning lathe and 3 000-ton press, the workers and technicians of the then Rakwon General Machine Enterprise "Chollima" excavator and the large water pump "Rakwon 1", the workers of the then Kiyang Machine Factory "Chollima" tractor and those of the then Tokchon Automobile Plant "Sungni-58 " truck.
The builders of the capital city created the miraculous speed of building more than 20 000 flats with materials, funds and labor force for 7 000 flats only in one year even though it was said that such construction would take three or four years. They also created the Pyongyang Speed of assembling a flat within 14 minutes.
The preceding generations have made miraculous successes in the all-people drive for increased production, knowing no such word as impossible on the road of realizing the intention of the leader and of achieving the prosperity and development of the country.
Still now, the DPRK people have dynamically advanced, full of enthusiasm to bring earlier the new era of comprehensive national rejuvenation by following the fighting spirit and traits of the preceding generations. -0-
