Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- 95 years have passed since President Kim Il Sung formed the Korean Revolutionary Army (KRA), the first revolutionary armed organization.

Kim Il Sung had already been convinced that only the armed struggle could be the most thoroughgoing and revolutionary anti-Japanese resistance in the first period of his revolutionary struggle. He advanced the line of armed struggle at the historic Kalun Meeting (June 30-July 2, 1930) and formed the KRA on July 6, 1930, as the first work for its preparations.

The KRA was the first armed organization of the Korean communists, who set it as a goal to fight for the independence of the country and the freedom and emancipation of the people by their own efforts, and a political and paramilitary organization to organize and prepare for the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

The formation of the KRA made it possible to deal a blow to the Japanese imperialists keen on a war of aggression and further promote the preparations for developing the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle in Korea into a stage of organized armed struggle.

Members of the KRA successfully carried out the tasks at the stage of preparing for the anti-Japanese armed struggle by disposing of Japanese imperialists and their stooges in vast areas of the homeland and northeastern China and vigorously conducting military and political activities to arouse the broad masses to the revolutionary struggle.

As a result, the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, a new-type permanent revolutionary armed forces, was formed in less than two years to wage an armed struggle.

The President wrote in his reminiscences “With the Century” as follows:

“The feats performed by the members of the Korean Revolutionary Army who had opened up the path ahead of our revolution were truly great and noble. It was by drawing on the experiences and lessons of their heroic struggle and at the cost of the precious blood shed by them that the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army came into the world as a permanent revolutionary armed force."

The immortal exploits performed by the President, who provided the eternal cornerstone of the Juche-oriented revolutionary armed forces at the beginning of the Korean revolution, are shining forever along with the proud history of our Republic which has won only victories. -0-
