Pyongyang, January 12 (KCNA) -- The permanent mission of the DPRK to the United Nations issued the following press statement on January 12:

The U.S. is planning to hold at the UN headquarters a briefing on the report of the "multilateral sanctions monitoring team (MSMT)", an illegal ghost organization that has no connection with the UN in practice.

The permanent mission of the DPRK to the UN expresses serious concern over the extremely malicious attempt of the U.S. to attach "legitimacy" to the plot-breeding organization cooked up by itself and turn the sacred UN into a theatre of confrontation intended to make unreasonable accusation against a sovereign state, and resolutely opposes and rejects it.

The existence of the MSMT cooked up by some Western countries hostile to the DPRK at will outside the UN framework is illegal itself and its activities are also illegitimate.

It is a mockery of all UN member states and an open insult to the UN Charter that the briefing is going to be convened at the UN conference room in order to propagate the data fabricated by the illegal organization which is not internationally recognized.

The matter of concern of the UN member states with sound thought and reason at present is not the absurd sermon of the U.S. to imagine, fabricate and propagate someone's "cyber threat" but its rogue acts being exercised ruthlessly while making a profound confusing of right and wrong in the international arena.

The U.S. is withdrawing from UN organizations at random which it regards as unnecessary while openly violating the UN Charter and all principles of international laws. But the U.S. is speaking about "observing the resolutions" of the UN Security Council. It is the height of impudence and an extreme and intensive expression of double standards.

What should be questioned and openly discussed in the UN as the most important pending issue is the hideous criminal act of the U.S. which wantonly violates the spirit of the UN Charter and other international laws and ruthlessly destroys the international order through the outrageous use of force.

The U.S. despises the existence of the UN itself and gives up its due duty as a member state of the UN. Its irrationality and malpractice of abusing the UN arena to satisfy its geopolitical self-interest should never be allowed.

The UN member states should heighten their vigilance against the U.S. shameless illegal and immoral acts of trying to make a mockery of the UN arena for unilateral and selfish purposes and send unanimous denunciation and rejection to it.

We will not tolerate any attempt of the United States to use the UN as a means of denunciation and pressure against a sovereign state, but will continue to make efforts to defend genuine international justice as a responsible member of the United Nations. -0-
