Pyongyang, April 19 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency issued a detailed report Wednesday on the successful completion of the first-stage construction of dwelling houses in the Hwasong area.

The report said that the soldier-civilian builders successfully completed the first-stage construction project of a new modern city district in the Hwasong area in just one year, under the wise guidance of the Party Central Committee committed to fulfill yearly plans for the construction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang, after making everything wished by the people a policy and a cherished work.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un unfolded a grandiose plan of building a new modern city in the Hwasong area, based on the achievements made in the first year in building the 50 000 flats in Pyongyang, and wisely led the project.

Over 2 000 more high-rise and skyscraper buildings were almost simultaneously completed along with 10 000 flats in the Hawsong area despite mid-winter conditions. This was the result of the indomitable mental power of the soldier-civilian builders who made strenuous efforts with unusual determination to unconditionally do whatever is wished by the Party, going beyond possibility.

They also planted over 220 000 trees of over 80 species and created lawn covering 550 000 square meters, as part of the greening project to turn the area into a park district of thick verdure.

Officials and workers in different parts of the country rendered material and moral assistance to the construction, in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance.

The Chollima Steel Complex, the Sangwon Cement Complex, the Sunchon Cement Complex, the Chollima Tile Factory, the Taean Friendship Glass Factory, the Narae Ceramics Factory and other related units ensured timely production and delivery of equipment and materials essentially needed for the project.

Workers in the railway transport field responsibly transported planned materials through increased transport drive.

Working people and youth in different parts of the country mounted night helpers' shock brigade activities in the construction site from the first day of the project to do their share in the construction of the capital city.

Among them were couples, father and son, father and daughter, brothers and sisters. Wives of officers rendered their sincere assistance to the soldiers, putting state affairs above their own family affairs.
