Wreaths Laid at Liberation Tower and Cemetery of Fallen Fighters of Soviet Army

Pyongyang, May 10 (KCNA) -- Staff members of the Russian embassy here laid a wreath at the Liberation Tower on May 9 on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Russia's victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The guard of honor of the Korean People's Army lined up at the tower.

Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Vladimir Topeha, charge d'affaires ad interim of the Russian embassy, and its staff members, members of the diplomatic corps and the military attaches corps here and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK.

The national anthems of the Russian Federation and the DPRK were played.

A wreath in the name of the Russian embassy was placed at the tower amid the playing of wreath-laying music.

The participants paid silent tribute to the memory of the fallen fighters of the Soviet Army before going round the tower.

On the same day, the members of the Russian embassy laid a wreath, bouquets and flowers at the cemetery of fallen fighters of the Soviet Army in Sadong District.

Earlier, members of the Russian embassy visited the monuments to the Soviet Army in Sinuiju, Uiju, Tongrim, Wonsan, Hamhung, Nampho and Haeju and members of the Russian consulate general in the city of Chongjin the liberation tower and graves of fallen fighters of the Soviet Army in the city. -0-
