Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Staff members of the Russian embassy here laid a wreath at the Liberation Tower on June 11 on the national day of the Russian Federation.

The guard of honor of the Korean People's Army lined up at the tower.

Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Vladimir Topekha, charge d'affaires ad interim of the Russian embassy here, and staff members of the embassy, and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK.

The national anthems of the Russian Federation and the DPRK were played.

A wreath in the name of the Russian embassy was placed at the tower amid the playing of wreath-laying music.

The participants paid silent tribute to the memory of the fallen fighters of the Soviet Army before looking round the tower.

On the same day, they laid a wreath and flowers at the cemetery of fallen fighters of the Soviet Army in Sadong District.

Earlier, members of the Russian consulate general in Chongjin visited the liberation tower and the cemetery of fallen fighters of the Soviet Army in the city. -0-
