Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- Kaesong Municipality in the DPRK is pushing ahead with the work to protect resources of medicinal herbs and create the forest of medicinal herbs.

The municipal Koryo medicine production management bureau mapped out a plan for the creation of forest of medicinal trees and herbs in hundreds of hectares and conducted a passing-on technique so that the medicinal herbs production units, Koryo medicine pharmaceutical factories and the preventive and curative medical institutions introduce advanced cultivation methods.

It is putting forward high demands for raising the rate of rooting of the planted medicinal trees and herbs while strengthening technical guidance so as to minimize damage caused by abnormal climate and harmful insects and increase yield by introducing nutritive accelerants.

The Kaesong and Kaephung medicinal herb management stations are putting the cultivation of medicinal herbs and trees on a sci-tech basis to secure raw materials for Koryo medicines.

The Phanmun experimental station for medicinal herb cultivation and the Jangphung County Koryo Medicine Pharmaceutical Factory are growing herbs including Inula helenium and Salvia miltiorrhiza, while conducting seed treatment and sowing as required by technical regulations.

The Kaesong Municipal General Hospital and the Kaesong Municipal Hospital of Koryo Medicine are concentrating efforts on the creation of forest of medicinal herbs and the increase of variety and production of Koryo medicines. -0-
