Korean People's Victory in Fatherland Liberation War

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The DPRK people won a great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) by beating back the military offensive of the U.S. imperialists, who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world, and their followers.

The Fatherland Liberation War was too hard for the two-year old DPRK to fight as the aggressors were the huge imperialist forces led by the U.S.

But the world saw the Korean people performing startling miracles, though simple and ordinary, by defending their fatherland at the cost of their lives under the outstanding leadership of President Kim Il Sung, an ever-victorious iron-willed commander and prominent military strategist.

The war ignited by the U.S. imperialists, who had bragged that the DPRK would "be brought to collapse in 72 hours," lasted more than 27 000 hours and finally ended in a brilliant victory of the DPRK. This was a great event beyond the expectations of the world people.

The heroic DPRK people, who achieved a victory in the hard-fought war, brought the U.S. imperialists to their knees and made them sign a surrender document in the land where they ignited a war of aggression.

The DPRK people and the brave soldiers of the People's Army honorably defended the dignity and sovereignty of the DPRK and global peace and security by performing unprecedentedly great feats in the Fatherland Liberation War.

The victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War proved that if the peoples of small countries wage an all-out struggle for their just cause, they can defeat any formidable imperialist aggression forces. -0-
