Pyongyang, May 23 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport in the DPRK is developing harbor transportation.

The ministry has taken measures to strengthen the material and technical foundations of shipbuilding and repair units while conducting operations and command to promote the work for remodeling several ports.

Under its concern, repairs of the cargo ships including Toksong, Pukdaechon and Kosan cargo ships are being stepped up.

The construction of open storage ground and riparian work in the eastern part of Chongjin Port, the repairing of the northern breakwater extending several hundred meters of Tanchon Port, the modernization of Wonsan Port and the manufacture of a new harbor crane are under way.

The ministry is repairing dams and structures of the West Sea Barrage and other barrages and dredging the deposits accumulated on ports and shipping lane of the Taedong River. -0-
