Pyongyang, January 17 (KCNA) -- The Socialist Patriotic Youth League marks the 80th anniversary of its founding.

The Korean youth movement has advanced only along the road of glory and victory to creditably carry forward and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered on Paektu generation after generation since the youth league was founded on January 17, 1946 under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung after the liberation of Korea.

It is now steadily making a proud history of its development, thanks to the idea of the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un on valuing the youth and his outstanding and seasoned leadership.

Kim Jong Un regarded attaching importance to the youth as the eternal strategic line of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Korean revolution and put forward the young people as the masters of the future of the socialist state.

He made public famous works such as the letter to the Tenth Congress of the youth league "Demonstrate to the Full the Might of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League on the Historic March towards a Fresh Victory in the Revolution", kindling the flames of patriotism in the hearts of the young people and arousing them to the building of a thriving country.

He invited the young people who volunteered for major worksites of socialist construction to the celebrations of the Youth Day and sent a congratulatory letter of love to them.

He visited the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station to highly appreciate the feats performed by the members of the youth shock brigade, and made sure that young people take part in the capital city construction for pioneering a new phase of development of the Juche-oriented architecture. He also visited the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm under construction to place deep trust in the young vanguard devoting their youth life and feats to the construction.

The warm loving care and affection of the tender-hearted father serve as the nutrients for training the Korean youth into the successors to the revolution, reserves of the Workers' Party and pillars of socialist construction.

Under the care of the respected fatherly Marshal who entrusted the construction of major objects in the country to the young people and led them step by step, they successfully built the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station and Jonwi Street of Pyongyang into grand monuments to the youth in the era of the Workers' Party and are building again a monumental edifice of the times in the northwestern part of the country.

The young people are defending the Party, the revolution, the country and the people, regarding the national defence as their greatest sacred duty. And they are fully demonstrating the dignity and might of the state to the world in devotedly implementing the Party's military combat order.

Thanks to the WPK's politics on attaching importance to the youth consistent with love and trust in the young people, the great strength of a large contingent of patriotic youths has been strikingly displayed in the struggle for prosperity and development of the country. -0-
