Rice Seedlings Transported by Air

One day in May 1961, President Kim Il Sung visited a farm in Kyongsong County, North Hamgyong Province, the DPRK and went to rice-seedling beds.

The President asked officials why the rice seedlings were not healthy.

An official of the farm said that seeds were sown lastly because the frozen lands thawed later than other areas.

After a while, the President told officials that as the rice-transplanting date was late, it is good that they should send a telegram to South Hamgyong Province, bring rice seedlings by air and test them in about one hectare of paddy fields.

And he saw to it that officials of rich experience in the west coastal areas were sent to this farm and other farms in the northern part of the east coast to help them.

Thanks to his loving care, rice seedlings were transported by air and officials of experience in the west coastal areas went to the northern part of the east coast to help farming. -0-
