One day in November 1981, Chairman Kim Jong Il visited Chongryu Restaurant which was nearing its opening.

Being pleased that the people will be provided with a more abundant and happy life, the Chairman asked an official how many guests can take meals at the restaurant a day.

After hearing with pleasure the official's answer, the Chairman asked again about the mealtime.

The official said that he assessed a mealtime for 40 minutes.

After a while, the Chairman said:

Forty minutes are too short. People will visit the restaurant with welcome guests or friends. At that time, they will exchange conversation with each other while taking a meal in an amicable atmosphere. In my opinion, one hour and a half are not enough for them at that time.

A little later, the Chairman looked around the officials and said that our intention is not to build such an excellent restaurant while spending a lot of funds and materials for moneymaking, but to make the people enjoy themselves, demanding foods they like to their heart's content. And he repeatedly told the officials that they should calculate the mealtime again.

Looking up to the Chairman, who was so concerned about the mealtime to be enjoyed by the people, the officials cherished again their duty as faithful servants of the people. -0-
