Design for Overpass

One day in April 1972, President Kim Il Sung came to pass a factory on his way for field guidance.

It was time for the workers to go to work, and a train was running towards the crossing point, whistling. Some workers stopped and waited for the train to pass, greeting the engine driver.

While watching them, the President felt anxiety and told officials to take a necessary step to remove their inconvenience.

The President returned to Pyongyang after his field guidance, called an official and asked him about a railway crossing.

The official replied that it was planned to build an underground passage, showing its design to the President.

After examining the design, the President said that the train should not be allowed to run over the workers' heads but the workers should go over the train, and gave an instruction on building an overpass.

Thus, the design of underground crossing was replaced by the overpass design. -0-
