One day in May 1994, Chairman Kim Jong Il arranged an occasion for a senior official of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) who came to the homeland as head of a congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan for celebrating the 82nd birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

The Chairman told him that Chongryon is the pride of the homeland and a model of the movement of overseas compatriots in the world. Many overseas compatriots are living in the world and millions of Korean compatriots formed their own organizations in different countries, but there is no patriotic overseas compatriots' organization loyal to their leader, country and nation like Chongryon, the Chairman added.

Recalling the exploits of President Kim Il Sung who set forth the great policy of a switchover in the line of the movement of Koreans in Japan during the grim Fatherland Liberation War, the Chairman highly praised the merits of the first generation of Chongryon who founded it and invariably followed the road of Juche with the policy of the line switchover as the guideline.

He earnestly said that the second and third generations of Chongryon should carry forward the patriotic tradition of Chongryon established by the first generation at any cost.

Looking up to the Chairman, the official felt that the true pride of Chongryon is the one of having the peerlessly great men and vowed to glorify this pride forever in the future, too. -0-
