Mission of Service Workers

One day in April 1967, Chairman Kim Jong Il visited a shop in Pyongyang.

Saying that he came to the shop as he heard that it renders good order services, he demanded the ordering book.

Reading out the list of goods ordered by a newly-married couple in the book, he asked a saleswoman if the shop had fully supplied the ordered goods.

Expressing satisfaction over her positive answer, he said that it was the spirit of service.

He looked carefully the book once again and asked the saleswoman again if she had been to the house of the newly-married couple.

Hearing her negative answer, he said with regrettable voice that she would not know whether the couple had a bookcase or not.

He said that it can not be said that the shop fully meets the demand of inhabitants even though it writes an ordering book and accepts orders from them. He warmly instructed that in order to sincerely promote the convenience of the inhabitants, it is necessary to visit their houses and commercial workers should become mothers responsible for the people's living.

The instructions given by him that day were precious teachings reminding the service workers responsible for the people's living of their mission once again. -0-
