One day in January 1980, Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the Changgwang Health Complex before its opening.

After looking round the central hall, he went upstairs. He expressed regret at the carpet in the lounge of a public bath.

The carpet was the best one that had been ever produced, so the officials could not know his mind.

Looking at the officials, he said that the sanitary conditions of the bathhouse were not considered, and that it is not good to lay carpets in the lounge of the public bath. He added that the air in the lounge would be bad because the dusty and damp carpet smells bad.

He also told the officials that as the complex was built for the people, the health and convenience of the people should be taken into account before everything else when even a carpet is laid and even a piece of furniture was arranged.

Thanks to the loving care of the Chairman, the complex could be built into a more perfect welfare service facility for the people. -0-
