Grand People's Study House

One day in December 1973, President Kim Il Sung climbed the snow-covered Namsan Hill of Pyongyang to choose a site for a large library for the people.

Later, the President asked officials how the library to be built on the Namsan Hill is named.

An official said that he wished to name it Kim Il Sung Library or Kim Il Sung Study House.

The President said that it should be named "Grand People's Study House" as it is necessary to make all the people of the country, including workers, farmers and working intellectuals, study here.

The next day, he was told that petitions for naming the library after the President were being made continuously. He said that he could not agree with them, and that our people are a very good people. He added that he was very proud of having such a good people.

He noted that no one had the right to change the name of the Grand People's Study House.

The house still stands as an eternal wealth of our people, telling us about the noble intention of the President who built a study house for the people in an excellent location he valued so much, and made it named after the word "people". -0-
