Plan for Reconstruction of Pyongyang

One day in January 1951, a designer arrived at the Supreme Headquarters, called by President Kim Il Sung.

The President told the designer that if the U.S. imperialist aggressors destroy one building, we should build ten, a hundred or a thousand ones and we should reconstruct the destroyed cities, rural areas, factories and enterprises into more beautiful, magnificent and modern ones than before. And the President asked the designer if he designs the reconstruction of Pyongyang.

The President indicated the detailed orientation of rebuilding Pyongyang into a more modern and cultural city, marking even the locations of the centre, residential quarters, roads, bridges and pleasure grounds of the city with a pencil.

In those grim days when everyone thought about war only, the President pictured to himself the future of the country which will win, so the designer was deeply moved by the President's faith in certain victory and foresight. -0-
