Steps for Coping with Disastrous Abnormal Weather Taken in DPRK

Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- Efforts have been directed to coping with a disastrous abnormal weather in the coal industry sector of the DPRK.

The Tukjang Area Coal-mining Complex finished the dredging of riverbeds and retaining of embankment which were registered as dangerous objects in a short period.

The Sunchon Area Youth Coal-mining Complex completed the assigned anti-land-sliding project by the end of May and the Jonchon Coal Mine pushed ahead with the embankment repair.

The Namdok and Hoean youth coal mines under the Pukchang Area Youth Coal-mining Complex secured dozens of reserve coal cutting faces through a high-speed tunneling campaign and repaired coal-mining lines and drainage ditches in tens of kilometers-long sections respectively. They also installed more pumps and motors or repaired and maintained them.

The Kangdong Area Coal-mining Complex built a reservoir with a capacity of hundreds of cubic meters, newly installed several pumps and finished the overhauling of electric motors and repairing of retaining walls in the coal yard and roof covering.

The coal miners of the Ryongdung Coal Mine under the Kujang Area Coal-mining Complex took a rainwater-proof measure at the coal depots to prevent the coal from being washed away and the Ryongmun and Ryongsu coal mines are hastening the work for cleaning up drainage canals and retaining embankment.

Coal mines of the Hamnam Area Coal-mining Complex are stepping up the work to increase the capacity of the reservoirs at the final stage while taking measures for protecting communication and power lines from the flood, rainstorm, etc. -0-
