Pyongyang, April 6 (KCNA) -- As drought persists, farms in North Hwanghae Province of the DPRK are striving to minimize the drought damage to crops.
Sariwon City and Thosan County deployed small water pumps and sprinklers on the farms fields, while taking measures for storing water and ensuring the full-capacity operation of pumping equipment.
Farms in Songnim City and Pongsan County have introduced irrigation methods appropriate to the actual conditions of the wheat and barley fields vulnerable to drought damage.
Yonthan and Kumchon counties are concentrating tractors, cultivators and water-carrying vehicles and manpower on the farms to intensively conduct watering.
Agricultural workers in Hwangju and Sangwon counties are intensifying the monitoring of harmful insects and applying various kinds of nutrients to enhance the crops' resistance to drought.
